The Challenge

Potloc is an all-in-one survey platform built for the world’s top consulting and private equity firms, working with companies like EY-Parthenon, KPMG, and Roland Berger to deliver the highest-quality data for the highest-leverage decisions.

Potloc operates two proprietary panels, Yunite for B2C audiences and Opinova for hard-to-reach professional cohorts, alongside its pioneered Social Media Sampling channel and an external network of 100+ third-party suppliers. Maintaining consistent data quality across both proprietary and third-party sources at scale meant Potloc needed quality controls deep enough to catch sophisticated fraud (bots, duplicate accounts, synthetic identities, account takeover) and broad enough to evaluate response quality itself.

Building this level of quality infrastructure entirely in-house was expensive, slow to maintain, and hard to scale as panel volume grew. Potloc needed a fraud stack that could secure both panel registration integrity and response-level behavioral quality, without growing headcount as volume scaled.

The Solution

Potloc’s quality framework rests on three pillars: source quality, respondent experience, and sophisticated quality controls across the survey lifecycle. Together, these apply up to 33 quality controls to every respondent (27 on Yunite/B2C, 33 on Opinova/B2B).

Pre-survey checks block bots, duplicates, VPN/proxy users, and synthetic identities. In-survey controls catch inattentiveness, yea-saying, and translation-tool use. Post-survey, a combination of AI and human review catches speeders, copy-paste behavior, and LLM-generated responses. Potloc keeps these three pillars sturdy through a combination of in-house and external tooling, anchored by Verisoul and Sentry.

Panel Registration Integrity: Verisoul

Potloc uses Verisoul to operate respondent-level data-quality checks on its proprietary panels. Building rigorous panel-quality infrastructure via point solutions was expensive, slow, and hard to maintain internally. Verisoul solved that in a single integration.

Every panel registration is screened by Verisoul against a wide signal set: bot detection, account sharing, account takeover, synthetic identities, VPN/proxy use, and duplicate accounts. If the signal returns fraud, the panelist is automatically blocked, and the conversion is automatically reversed in the affiliate platform, with zero analyst time. Decisions, signals, and reversals are logged so Potloc can reconcile with affiliate partners transparently and at scale. The result: as Potloc’s panel grows, fraud-handling cost stays flat, enabling scalability without headcount growth.

Opinova, Potloc’s B2B panel of 11,000+ verified decision-makers and specialized professionals, layers Verisoul’s Facematch on top of its standard quality stack. A selfie-to-ID facematch confirms the registrant is a real person (not a duplicate, bot, or impersonator), closing the impersonation loophole that matters most when clients are paying premium incentives for credentialed responses. Facematch is part of why Opinova operates the most QC-intensive flow in Potloc’s supply mix, 33 quality controls vs. 27 on other channels.

Behavioral Response Quality: Sentry

Potloc uses Sentry as its standard tooling for respondent quality across third-party research. This is the part of the funnel where source-level checks alone can’t tell the full story: rather than merely verifying respondent identity, Sentry evaluates how they are engaging with a survey, taking a behavioral approach to identify inattentiveness and yea-saying before a respondent ever enters the survey.

Sentry also tracks behavioral events during the screening process, flagging suspicious activity such as copy-paste behavior, translation services, and applications built to help fraudsters complete surveys.

Beyond the proprietary panels, Potloc’s external supply ecosystem is governed by the same quality lens, powered by Sentry’s behavioral signals. Every provider and every project, is scored. Cleaning metrics, termination rates, in-survey flags, and post-survey removals are tracked in real time, and allocation continuously rebalances toward providers performing best on quality KPIs. Providers that fall below threshold are excluded from future volume. The result is a network of 100+ vetted partners where only the best performers earn volume.

Transparency, End-to-End

Potloc’s quality framework is not just operationally sophisticated; it is fully visible to both sides of the marketplace. Clients see real-time cleaning rates at every stage (pre-survey, in-survey, post-survey) directly in the Potloc platform; there is no black box, and clients can audit the funnel themselves. Suppliers see how they perform against Potloc’s decision rules and where they fall in the ranking, so partners know exactly how to improve and which behaviors disqualify their respondents.

“It was kind of a no-brainer for me, we are saving money, building a future-proof stack, all while delivering premium insights to our clients.”

Results

By pairing Verisoul (panel registration integrity) with Sentry (behavioral quality across third-party research) and surrounding both with a transparent, real-time scoring framework, Potloc runs its supply network efficiently and with minimal spend on bad data. Clear, transparent decision rules let the team reconcile poor-quality respondents while delivering higher-quality research, and the data clients pay for keeps getting better.

Client Trust

  • A 0.8% client reconciliation rate, fewer than 8 in 1,000 completes are reconciled by Potloc’s clients
  • Up to 33 quality controls applied per respondent on B2B proprietary panels
  • Full visibility into cleaning rates at every stage, for both clients and suppliers

Scalability Without Headcount Growth

  • Fraudulent panel registrations automatically blocked and reversed with zero analyst time
  • Behavioral flags from Sentry feed real-time supplier scoring across 100+ external partners
  • Fraud-handling cost stays flat as panel and network volume grow

Cost Efficiency

  • 133% year-one ROI on Verisoul, driven by fraudulent respondents being blacklisted, reconciled against affiliate sources via API, and charged back
  • Net positive return generated before even factoring in the operational time saved by automation

What’s Next

Potloc continues to expand its proprietary supply engines, Yunite, Opinova, and its pioneered social media sampling technology, while using Sentry’s behavioral signals to keep refining how its 100+ external partners are scored and ranked. As panel volume and third-party network size grow, Potloc plans to lean further on the combined Verisoul-Sentry stack to keep fraud-handling costs flat and cleaning rates visible end-to-end.
