To get started with CloudResearch, your first step is to create an account by clicking "Sign Up Now" in the upper right-hand corner. On the following page, complete the fields and select "Create Account" near the bottom.
Once your account is created, you can begin running studies on Prime Panels. To run studies with our MTurk Toolkit, you will need to link your MTurk account with your CloudResearch account. Once your accounts are linked, you can run studies on MTurk using the MTurk Toolkit.
If you are interested in having us manage a study for you, there is no need to create an account. You can simply contact us and we can begin discussing your study.
When you run a study with Prime Panels, your study is available to participants who have signed up with one of the online panels that is part of Prime Panels. When you run a study with MTurk, your study is available only to participants who have signed up as a worker on Mechanical Turk (MTurk).
Despite several important differences between Prime Panels and MTurk, the process of running studies on the two platforms is similar. To run a study on either platform, you can design your survey using an external survey creation platform like Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey. Then you can use CloudResearch to set up your study, target participants and manage data collection.
Researchers can set up and run studies on MTurk without using CloudResearch. However, because MTurk was not designed for behavioral research, researchers may find a number of tasks are challenging or time-consuming if they are not familiar with how to write code and interact with MTurk's application programming interface (API). Additionally, CloudResearch makes it possible to sample specific groups selectively of MTurk participants.
With the CloudResearch MTurk Toolkit, we have written the code to interact with MTurk's API. This gives researchers the ability to easily determine eligibility criteria, email workers to notify them of a study, automate the approval process, improve data quality and more. Our MTurk Toolkit was specifically designed to help researchers get the most out of MTurk.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pricing for CloudResearch MTurk studies is based on the number of participants sourced and the compensation provided per participant. We offer different pricing structures for academic and business accounts using the MTurk Toolkit. Learn more about our MTurk study pricing or contact us for more information.
There is no charge to create a CloudResearch account or design studies within the system. You pay only when you launch a study. We therefore provide you with the opportunity to explore — at no cost — all the tools CloudResearch offers to make managing your studies simpler.
Yes, you can select "Request a Demo" or "Contact Us" and complete the form. A member of our customer support team will contact you within one business day to learn more about your needs.
The cost of a study on Prime Panels depends on sample size, sample demographics and the length of your study. Learn more about our Prime Panels study pricing or contact us for more information.
We accept credit cards, checks and wire transfers. For large projects and managed studies, we can issue an invoice after the study is complete. If you would like to pay by check or wire transfer, please contact our customer service team.
The credit cards we accept include Visa®, Mastercard®, American Express® and Discover®.
At CloudResearch, we're experts not only in online technology, but also in behavioral science. Our research team regularly conducts studies to assess data quality, including testing for new ways of verifying demographics and increasing the attention and engagement of participants. By combining best practices in technology with our in-depth knowledge of human behavior, we are able to ensure you sample your target audience while obtaining the best in data quality.
There are no minimums on the number of participants or the price of studies you run with CloudResearch. Our tools provide complete flexibility for you to run the studies you want.
Our servers are protected by high-end firewall systems and employ real-time vulnerability monitoring to identify and respond to potential attacks. Our systems are fault tolerant and data backups are performed nightly. Complete penetration tests are performed regularly.
CloudResearch uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption (also known as HTTPS) for all transmitted data. Our services are hosted by data centers that are independently audited according to the SSAE 18 and ISAE 3402 industry standards.
Outside our platform, a number of safeguards keep your study and participants' data safe. In addition, because most researchers create their studies with an external survey creation platform like Qualtrics or SurveyGizmo, a gap exists between the system used to recruit and pay participants (MTurk or Prime Panels) and the system used to administer the study and record data (your survey creation platform). This separation of platforms makes it difficult to link information about participants with their data from any one study.
No. Creating a CloudResearch account and setting up studies are both free. You are charged for studies when they launch and as participants complete your study.
You do not need an MTurk account to use CloudResearch services. Linking an MTurk account to your CloudResearch account allows you to use the MTurk Toolkit.
Yes, you may use your MTurk account to run studies with our MTurk Toolkit. If you do not have an MTurk account, you can create one and link it to CloudResearch or you can use our MTurk requester account to run studies on MTurk.
Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing marketplace that makes it easy for businesses and individual "requesters" to find people who are willing to complete small tasks for compensation.
Over the last 10 years, MTurk has become an affordable way for researchers to efficiently conduct online research. Today, MTurk is used by a wide variety of researchers in academic, corporate, government and nonprofit industries. Because MTurk was not designed for behavioral research, researchers may find a number of tasks challenging, time-consuming or impossible if they are not familiar with how to write code and interact with MTurk's application programming interface (API). Using the CloudResearch MTurk Toolkit makes it easy to set up and manage MTurk studies, saving researchers time and money.
The technology company CloudResearch provides researchers with access to research participants on Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) and on Prime Panels, a collection of dozens of market research platforms.
Each market research platform that is part of Prime Panels has its own participant pool, referred to as an opt-in panel. Collectively, these online panels are much larger, more diverse and more representative of the U.S. population than those available on MTurk. Participants on these panels are profiled by hundreds of variables so that when researchers launch a study, participants meeting the study's demographic criteria receive invitations via email or the panel dashboard.
Prime Panels allows researchers to gather samples that cannot be obtained through Turk alone. For example, with Prime Panels, researchers can gather very large samples, target very specific hard-to-sample demographic groups, sample internationally or sample within specific cities or even ZIP codes.
