Outside our platform, a number of safeguards keep your study and participants' data safe. In addition, because most researchers create their studies with an external survey creation platform like Qualtrics or SurveyGizmo, a gap exists between the system used to recruit and pay participants (MTurk or Prime Panels) and the system used to administer the study and record data (your survey creation platform). This separation of platforms makes it difficult to link information about participants with their data from any one study.

No. Creating a CloudResearch account and setting up studies are both free. You are charged for studies when they launch and as participants complete your study.

You do not need an MTurk account to use CloudResearch services. Linking an MTurk account to your CloudResearch account allows you to use the MTurk Toolkit.

Yes, you may use your MTurk account to run studies with our MTurk Toolkit. If you do not have an MTurk account, you can create one and link it to CloudResearch or you can use our MTurk requester account to run studies on MTurk.

Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a crowdsourcing marketplace that makes it easy for businesses and individual "requesters" to find people who are willing to complete small tasks for compensation.

Over the last 10 years, MTurk has become an affordable way for researchers to efficiently conduct online research. Today, MTurk is used by a wide variety of researchers in academic, corporate, government and nonprofit industries. Because MTurk was not designed for behavioral research, researchers may find a number of tasks challenging, time-consuming or impossible if they are not familiar with how to write code and interact with MTurk's application programming interface (API). Using the CloudResearch MTurk Toolkit makes it easy to set up and manage MTurk studies, saving researchers time and money.

The technology company CloudResearch provides researchers with access to research participants on Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) and on Prime Panels, a collection of dozens of market research platforms.

Each market research platform that is part of Prime Panels has its own participant pool, referred to as an opt-in panel. Collectively, these online panels are much larger, more diverse and more representative of the U.S. population than those available on MTurk₁. Participants on these panels are profiled by hundreds of variables so that when researchers launch a study, participants meeting the study's demographic criteria receive invitations via email or the panel dashboard.

Prime Panels allows researchers to gather samples that cannot be obtained through Turk alone. For example, with Prime Panels, researchers can gather very large samples, target very specific hard-to-sample demographic groups, sample internationally or sample within specific cities or even ZIP codes.
